Pedro Talk-in

One part of View from the Shite Seats had the pleasure of meeting the legend that is Peter Beardsley at a talk-in in Bill Quay last night.

Peter seemed very annoyed about the current situation at SJP. Here are some of the main talking points from a very animated Pedro about United currently:

  • Joe Kinnear is not good enough to be NUFC manager (and it’s a disgrace that it has come to this)
  • Danny Guthrie and Shola Ameobi, despite both being genuine and sound lads, are not good enough for NUFC
  • We deserve to be in the bottom three on current showings
  • Oba Martins is not good enough to be an £11m striker
  • James Milner was a very average player and £12m was a great deal
  • There is noone at youth level particularly good, although Nile Ranger looks half-decent
  • The fault for the shite we’re in lies with the previous managers (Souness, Roeder and Allardyce), not with Shepherd

Possibly the most interesting peice however was about Harry Redknapp, who, according to Pedro, had the job in the bag before KK returned, only for someone from the Shearer camp to declare Alan’s interest in the job. This changed Redknapps mind and the rest is history. Harry was so close to taking over that his son, Jamie, even phoned Pedro and asked him if he would form part of the coaching staff at SJP.

Interesting night and all thanks to the guys at Grassroots who also raised money for the Bill Quay Cricket Club and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
