Coventry v The Mags (26th August 2008) CC2
Newcastle have worries in attack as striker Obafemi Martins is out with fellow forwards Michael Owen and Alan Smith not yet fully-fit.
Mark Viduka (Achilles) remains on the sidelines so Shola Ameobi may return, while winger Damien Duff is a doubt with a knee problem.
Coventry have forward Freddy Eastwood (groin) and goalkeeper Keiren Westwood (concussion) sidelined.
Right-back Stephen Wright (Achilles) is also likely to be out.
Coventry boss Chris Coleman told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire:
“We have to be tight and we must be difficult to beat.
“We must ask them questions and you want to test yourself when you play against better teams.”
Newcastle United boss Kevin Keegan told BBC Radio Newcastle:
“My feeling is and always has been that the best chance we’ve got of winning something is a Carling Cup or an FA Cup.
“Providing I’m not risking players, I’ll put out as strong a team as I can against Coventry because I think that’s what the competition asks you to do.”
