DRFC 0-1 NUFC

ANDY Carroll wrote some more headlines tonight as his tenth goal in eleven games gave us a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Doncaster at the Keepmoat.

A line-up that contains Nicky Butt and Ryan Taylor is always likely to make you massively pessimistic, but despite this setback we never looked particularly in any trouble, and when Routledge’s through ball set away Andy ‘The Hitman’ Carroll to round the stuttering, creaking and downright ancient Neil Sullivan and roll home, the win was in the bag.

We go five points clear of WBA on the same games played (WBA play tomorrow night at home to Coventry) and remain ten clear of Forest - 2-0 victors over Crystal Palace, their twelfth home win in a row - with a game in hand.

As it stands, we now need eleven points to secure promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
