Push For Promo - An Update

#pushforpromotion – we are already at the half way through the season and the stats look very much in the favour of a #NUFC promotion, however based on the averages of the last 7 seasons of the Championship – we aim to track Newcastles promotion push slightly closer by tracking them against the averages achieved to gain promotion (play off status) and by game by game averages as the season progresses.

We also hope to predict the outcome based on hypothetical results on upcoming league matches.

Current status is as follows, all game by game stats and averages point to a Newcastle promotion, obviously based on the table itself you would feel this anyway, the only point of slight concern is the 25% draw rate, this if increases could cause issues as it did for Swansea (20 draws (43%) in late 08-09 and as we have seen recently a few draws in succession certainly raises eyebrows.

So far so good.

If we take current trends based on averages Newcastle would certainly win the league with 97 points (29 wins and 12 draws under the belt) – scoring 75 and conceding 27 goals.
